One-Day Itinerary in Tulum

A simple plan for one full day in Tulum. Perfect if you want great food, beach time, a cenote, a sunset moment, and a beautiful dinner without rushing.

One Perfect Day in Tulum

Morning – Tacos, Ruins and First Swim

Start with breakfast tacos at Taquería Honorio. Cochinita or lechón with a fresh juice is the classic choice.

If it's your first time, visit the Tulum Ruins right after breakfast. It’s best early to avoid heat and crowds.

Then head to Caleta Tankah for a quieter beach and a freshwater cenote. If you go to Caleta Tankah, it has its own cenote on-site, which lets you enjoy a beach swim and a freshwater dip without needing to move locations.

If you prefer the hotel zone, choose the beach near Ahau for scenery and photo opportunities.

Midday – Beach Club Time

Spend the middle of the day at a beach club such as Delek or a similar spot.

Order something light, swim, relax, read, or take photos. Keep your outfit simple and comfortable: flowy dress, swimsuit underneath, and minimal makeup.

Late Afternoon – Cenote or Rest

If you're near Ahau, you can cross the road to a small cenote for a quick freshwater swim.

Or return to your hotel to shower, rest, and get ready for the evening.

Sunset – Rooftop View

Choose a rooftop bar in the Azulik area or any jungle-facing rooftop. The light over the jungle at sunset is one of the most peaceful moments of the day.

This is a good moment for a clean, minimal evening look in soft colors.

Evening – Dinner

Choose between:

Illios — Mediterranean, lighter and fresh.
Hartwood — stylish jungle dining with mezcal-focused cocktails and a warm nighttime atmosphere.

Night – Drinks or Dancing

If you want to go out, begin at Gitano for cocktails and music.

For something more energetic, try Casa Jaguar. In town, Batey and Santino offer more casual nightlife.

Always plan your transportation back ahead of time, especially after midnight.

Extra Tips for Women Traveling to Tulum

  • Many smaller places prefer cash. Withdraw from ATMs inside banks or supermarkets.
  • Keep small bills for taxis, colectivos and tips. Restaurants and beach clubs usually take cards, but always confirm first.
  • Stay aware at night, stay with your group, and decide how you’ll get back before going out.
